Your Experience at Petroff Center

Your comfort – both physical and psychological – is of utmost importance to us. We are here to answer your questions and take care of your needs before, during, and after your surgery. If you choose to have your procedure with us, what can you expect?

First, you will have a consultation with Dr. Petroff to discuss what you wish to change about your appearance. He will examine you and listen carefully to your concerns. Then, he can make recommendations as to what procedures will work best for you. It is important to him that you have realistic expectations of the procedure(s) you choose and that you understand exactly what to expect before, during, and after your surgery.

Only rarely does plastic surgery require a hospital stay. Almost all of the procedures Dr. Petroff offers can be performed right in our state-of-the-art, licensed surgical facility at the Petroff Center.

During surgery, you are given carefully monitored intravenous anesthesia, which induces what is called “twilight sleep.” This means that you will breathe on your own during your procedure. The benefits of this type of anesthesia are that you are up and around more quickly after your surgery, but you won’t remember anything from the surgery itself.

General anesthesia is used on occasion, and recovery time always depends on the type of procedure. Generally, however, it is 1-2 weeks. All patients can return home or go to a care facility the same day of their surgery.

Scarring is the natural result of any surgery, but Dr. Petroff takes care to place incisions in well-hidden locations. Following surgery, some discomfort can be expected, but our patients report that it is usually much less than they thought. Depending on the procedure, you will be given adequate medication to keep you as pain-free as possible.

Postoperative visits are scheduled regularly throughout the year following your surgery. You may also schedule follow-up office visits as often as they like, as these postoperative examinations are free of charge.
