Asian Eyelid Surgery
Common both in the United States and in Asia, cosmetic eyelid surgery is a growing trend among Asian men and women. Through eyelid surgery the eyelids can be altered in shape, height, decrease the epicanthal fold (the skin on the nose side of the eyelid) and create a crease in a double eyelid. There is a strong misconception that this procedure is meant to “Westernize” these patients or that they do not wish to look Asian. Every patient has their own reason for choosing to undergo a plastic surgery procedure, but in most cases, the goal of the patient is to look and feel their best, to look younger or to balance facial features and create symmetry.
